Group Layers

Creation

Group layers are created contextually based on the number of layers currently selected.

• No layers selected: Group layer is added at the top of the layer stack.

• One layer selected: Group layer is added above the selected layer. This allows the user to create a standalone layer group that they can move layers into later during their work (without having to do so immediately). It also allows for easier creation of “Adjustment Layer Groups”.

• Two or more layers selected: Group layer is added above the top selected layer, and all selected layers are moved into this layer group (no matter where they were previously located within the layer tree). If a selected layer is inside an existing group layer, it is moved out of that group layer into the new group layer.
