Hacking
Quite a few intense hacking sessions were spent in the evening, in the hotel lobby and bar.
Team meeting notes - 2026-04-21 (SUSE Nürnberg) - 3PM
We were invited by the local SUSE office which lent us a room for the afternoon. While hacking and random discussions got in the way, some team work and decisions could happen.
GSoC choice
We sat with Liam and compiled comments in the GSoC report.
Committee Vote: adding a second Committee member to Ramp
We were told by Dawn of GNOME that we could have a second member “for free” on the platform for managing our funds (Ramp). Jehan proposes to have either Liam or Schumaml as they are both on most events and are very active Committee members. Liam suggests Schumaml, who also used to manage our funds.
Vote of confidence live at the meeting (Schumaml recuses himself): Aryeom, Ville, Liam, Mitch and Jehan vote “Yes”. This is 5 “yes” vote yet we decide to redo a proper vote on our platform for absent Committee members not to be left out.
Updating the donation page
GNOME asked us if we could drop donations by check because it adds complicated procedure for low usage. We decide it was not a task for Committee vote (cf. initial thread and simply decided to drop the check donations as a baseline donation type (but leaving it possible to get in touch with us for bigger donations) and made it a simple bug report with TODO tasks.
More topics
Other organizational topics were discussed during the event days, such as “allowances” to replace reimbursements as was suggested at some point. No clear result came out of this discussion and further discussions and vote should happen later.
Workshop/Talks
Team contributors had 2 talks and a workshop. Video recording for the talks are available on the respective pages.

Wednesday, 22 April 2026 at 16:50 GMT+2: ctx vector desktop - rasterizing as late as possible (talk) by Øyvind Kolås, babl, GEGL and ctx maintainer:
What becomes possible with a graphics stack/compositor that works with vectors, rather than pixels? - and what does it take to make it possible? Helping figuring out this - is a goal of the ctx terminal emulator with its vector graphics extension.

Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 13:40 GMT+2: Soldering (workshop) by Simon Budig, long term GIMP team member:
I’d like to propose a soldering workshop for LGM attendees. Goal is to populate a PCB with a handfull of components to have something that lights up with colors.

Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 17:45 GMT+2: GIMP: a Community, Free Software (talk) by Jehan, GIMP Maintainer and ZeMarmot technical lead:
GIMP is Free Software. Most people present at Libre Graphics know as much. But it is more: GIMP is also a Community. For me this aspect has about as much importance as the licensing part. In this talk, I will be diving further into what that means, how that works and why this matters. Doing so, I will also discuss a bit the past few years of the project, clarify our current vision and forecast the (very positive) future of this project.
Fun and Team Building
While it was our second time in Nuremberg in a row, less tourism was done for most of us, though we did a very nice visit of the Germanisches Nationalmusem together.
Visiting hackspaces was also quite interesting.
We were also invited by the Akademie der Bildenden Künste (Academy of Fine Arts) for visiting the academy and discussing.
